Yes, I think security was the reason. I always leave it unchecked and rely on firewall(s) for security.
Uncheck the option and see if the VPN'd PC will work. if it does, then you can decide about leaving it off or changing the VPN'd PC's IP. If it doesn't, you've had fun and a learning experience :)
