My preference would be the standard monitor. I feel more comfortable not having to check each release to see if some new u-beaut feature has been added in that I then have to incorporate into an ageing customised monitor. But even if I was using a Custome monitor my prefernece would be to make the system believe that a set global had not been performed, then at the start of every program with the one simple command of GetGlobal you know exactly the status of your memory. No testing common to see if some vague variable has been set or just happened to be in the right spot by sheer bad luck. AT end of month it would be handy to be able to force people to relog on at some time, depending on status of various eom procedures. A force UnSetGlobal would satsify that criteria.
