loading files

This is a long message...but I will try to provide a lot of symptoms:

Customer has been on Comet98 for 5 years on the same Novell 4+server. The only known change has been the battery back up on the Novell server has recently been replaced. Customer has been running 505.279 for at least 6 months. Utility version is 00.04

Many times in the past I have loaded new programs by phone and then used utility #13 to add the qdir file entry. Now, only the file name, type (MTB), record size (756), key size (0) appear...create, update, time, size, source, version are all blank. (Does NOT say NO DOS File...as if I had made the entry in an incorrect directory.)

I can do a windows search and see the files are on \NEW with date and time stamps and size. (Most are 9kb obj files, dated 8/31/2005 at 1:46pm).

Utility #19 Find Files shows the file names on \NEW again showing only MTB-756-0 and the rest blank (does not show NO DOS file).

If I try to do a Comet file copy of these files from \NEW I get an error of 'No DOS file, cannot copy'.

I have attempted to do a qdir rebuild using the utility for this. This asks me for the details for thses files...i.e. MTB object files...and appears to proceed as normal. Then, if I catalog or find these files (#19) in Comet...again they are just displayed as MTB-756-0 and no additional information.

I have attempted to load these files using #32 copy from a floppy. When I attempt to do this I receive a 'lock/unlock error'.

I have attempted all of these under the user Novell password and also under the Novell administrator password, which is not restrictive.

What seems illogical to me is that daily production is NOT having any problem...and we are constantly erasing and creating temporary files that have current dates and time on them. I don't understand how this daily production could happen if I can not insert new file names in Comet. Additionally, this is an ongoing customer, who has had no problems and is a very stable site. Again, this routine proceedure to send files by phone and insert them into the Comet QDIR has been used for over 5 years at this customer without problems.

When I attempt to copy these files using Utility #32...copy from a floppy, I receive a 'lock/unlock error.'

I have exhaused my ideas and if you have any ideas to resolve this, I would appreciate this.
