Comet Startup Error 2003

I know i am missing somthing really simple here but .... What does the following error indicate in the comet startup log :

15:23:30 Checking Type-S Directory : \\BRAUN\VOL1\COMET2003\REL\
15:23:30 Check Failed, error=2003.
15:23:30 Checking Type-S Directory : \\BRAUN\VOL1\COMET2003\UTL\
15:23:30 Check Failed, error=2003.

These folders exist. I have access to them over the network. What am I missing?
