The 5.10 version of the Server Products release is now available. We have added code to prevent improper use of the CreateKey statement.

For a quick introduction to the power of multiple keys, download and run the little test program that Jim wrote. It's called "Multik" and is attached here. It creates a 1000-record multi-keyed file in your TMP dir with 15 key fields, which is probably more than you'll choose to use, but is a great demo. It uses both string and numeric fields for the keys and demonstrates how to read the file using the sub keys.

While you're at it, give the new FileList utility in Comet Explorer a try. It will let you display the records in your multi-keyed files in order by any of the keys.

The multi-keyed file system eliminates the need for you to maintain all those key-only files just so you can quickly read your data files in alternate order. The file system does all the work for you!
