I looked at this and others when I first implemented the forum. I did not like it because it put a lot of extraneous stuff on the screen. I had been looking at the forum at biggreenegg,com and was struck by how compelling it seemed to interact using it.
I have been thinking of a rewrite using xap. I know there are plenty of other forum programs out there, but what I liked was the simple look and ease of use of webboard.
