The MSDE (MS Desktop Engine)/SQL server Lite is a 2000 product. Unpatched it is susceptible to the Slammer worm.
FYI, SQL 2005 will be released shortly (I've heard Nov ' 05). Along with it will be SQL Server 2005 Express which will replace MSDE. It's a bit more CPU and memory hungry but it's supposed to be a lot better.
