The recent post by Willie Klein regarding the naming of the .pdf attachment for the email printer has us rethinking one aspect of the (Document=) mnemonic implementation. The mnemonic currently works as documented:

"When using this mnemonic, the document is first created in the default folder associated with the printer. For pdf printers this is established in the "Properties" for the printer. For html and text printers it is the Windows temp folder. Then, when the printer is closed, a copy of the document will be made for each occurrence of the mnemonic. The original document will remain in its folder. Its full pathname can be retrieved by reading the # LUN following the CLOSE of the printer."

The DES program for the email printer is reading the # LUN to get the name of the attachment file. It is getting the "default" name, which, as Willie has pointed out, is not very meaningful. We're thinking that maybe it would be better to return the name from the last (Document=) mnemonic instead. The default would only be used if no overriding (Document=) had been issued. This would allow users of the email printer to use (Document=) to specify the name of the email attachment if they want to.

So, here's the question... This change would effect anyone (not just email pritner users) who's using the (Document=) mnemonic and reading the # LUN after the close to get the default name of the file. Is this a problem for anyone?
