I found another way that seems to work. Don't step across any PRINTs. Instead set breakpoints just beyond them. That helped. The debugger did want to stop when it hit the DES program. I guess this is because I have it set to stop at the top of every program. But if I clicked "go" it returned right to my main source and I could continue stepping thru.
