As per usual, there was one thing they forgot to tell me. We used to send mail from all the branches via the head office mail server. One of the branches is with a different ISP and apparently they recently did something to disallow us from routing our outgoing email via the fixed ip address of our head office machine.
On changing Connect it worked fine.
Interestingly, it still connected using the old method but it took quite a few seconds to connect; it then went into limbo for at least 20 or 30 seconds and then crashed. I didn't see it display the helo.
May be of use to someone.
