How many Comet users? How many are "power users"? Same question for users doing Word/Excel stuff. Running Exchange, IIS or SQL?
If the overall load isn't too high. Then you could look at one of the bottom line servers from Dell, Gateway, or HP. I have customers with 10-12 users on Celeron processors.
I find an investment in disk speed is better than one in CPU speed. Most of my customers have SCSI with a few getting good service with fast IDE drives. Haven't done a SATA server yet. Most of the newer mother boards are coming with (2-6) SATA connections with RAID built in.
