The latest version of the File Server (6.05) has been enhanced to use the delete chains of QDIRs. As you might have noticed, this has never been done. Those QDIRs would just keep getting bigger and bigger.
To get maximum benefit from this feature, you should rebuild the QDIR to start fresh. This can be very simple if you use the "Rebuild Directory" utility in Comet Explorer. It is better able to detect the files' attributes than the old QDIRBLD utility, and it knows how to deal with multi-keyed files. Simply right-click on the directory's name, then select "Rebuild Directory". Click on "Scan for Errors" then "Rebuild".
Take a look at the size of those QDIRs. Choose one for a directory that gets a lot of ERASEs and CREATEs and give it a try. Because, afterall, bigger is not always better!
