Sounds like perhaps some of the Microsoft .dlls needed for Comet are either missing or out of date. Try downloading the msdlls.zip from the link below and unzip it into the appropriate Windows System folder on that computer. To determine the destination pathname, search for some of the .dlls in the zip. You should find some version of them already on the computer. Install into that folder.
