QDIR problem

The SRC directory came from my customer's server and the first time the QDIR went bad I put it down to it's being old (2001). However, since then, under both C2K5 and C2K6, the QDIR has gone bad twice.

Earlier yesterday, I had done 200+ renames (SRC to SRC) using CometEx. I'd type QP to get close to the file, F2, add "~" to the front of the name. CometEx would jump to the files new location on SRC. I'd type QP etc, etc, etc.

Once, while doing the CometEx renames a dialog blinked up on the screen. Too fast to read. My thought, at the time, was that it was something from CometEx.

Later yesterday, upon returning to CometEx, the file display stopped after 20 or so files. DIRCAT showed a corrupt file name. See QDIR.JPG. I moved all the good files to another directory and did another DIRCAT. See QDIR2.JPG and copied the SRC directory to SRC.ZIP. I rebuilt the QIR and the "bad" files were found. I moved the rest of the files back to SRC.
