The problem is that Security Server is stopping and/or failing to start. This has happened at three different end-users and we've seen approximately a half a dozen failures over the course of the last six months. At Bergamo, the Security Server stopped and attempts to restart were unsuccesful. At Christopher Norman and
Rose Tarlow the service would fail to start on a server reboot. At
these two accounts, installation of current versions of the Server
products seemed to make the problem go away. Rose Tarlow has had this situation come up a few times, the latest this morning. They
were running 606 version of Comet services. We upgraded and rebooted
the server, problem still persisted. We were finally able to get
Security Server started up by continually attempting manual startups.
It's running now. As per our discussion, the fact that all exits out
of SecurityServer are trapped with Message boxes, it seems as though
Windows is failing to even start the service. I'd sure like to find
out why. Rose Tarlow is running Comet2K5 .363 and Windows Server
2000 SP4. Tom.
