Jon:

This is very strange because CMONITOR does the same unqualified OPEN attempt of IDFILE before QMONITOR is run and apparently it didn't get this error. Remember that when an unqualified OPEN is done, the open will be attempted on every directory accessed until either it succeeds or runs out of dirs to try. Perhaps the difference is that when QMONITOR is doing the open attempt you have a subset of the configured dabs based on your password and in the order specified in the security file. In CMONITOR it'd be checking all configured dabs in configured order. Maybe you have a bad qdir out there somewhere where an IDFILE at one time resided?

I set up one directory as a type "N" on my system, but didn't have the problem. I'm hoping someone else will have an idea here.
