I'm still running some tests in relation to using my first extended
keyed file at an end-user. I created an Extended Keyed file and added three records to it. I then deleted the 2nd record in the file
using the Maintenance option in Comet Explorer. I then wanted to
keybild the file - once using the keys and once using the records.
The keyed option worked fine and created a file with two records in
it. Using the record # option, however, the keybild froze. I had to
restart my computer to kill the window. After restarting I found that a new extended keyed file had been created and one record was
in it. So it got hung up somehow on the deleted record. I was interested in what the results would be after hearing Jim mention the
fact that if the key is placed somewhere outside the first ten characters in the file, it would not be overwritten with a record delete. I think it would be handy to have some method of working with records only where you could choose an option to examine or work
with deleted records. But, I ran into the "freeze". Tom.
