You need to be sure you have a valid QDIR. If you're not sure, you should rebuild it. I'd recommend using the utility that's part of Comet Explorer rather than the old QTILITY one. It is smarter so you won't have to enter as much missing information.
To use the utility, right click on the directory's name in Comet Explorer and select "Rebuild Directory" from the popup menu.
