Using Comet for Windoews commands you ask the printer for it's "margins". You get the physical paper size, top and left margins, and the printable area. From those you can calculate the bottom and left margins. Printers usually have about 1/4" left and right. Laser printers also have about 1/4" top and bottom. Inkjets are wierd! Some have very small top margins and a large 1/2" or more bottom margin. You run out of space at the bottom. Not good if you're printing a form and there's a field to be printed there.

Caveat, printers lie (actually the printer driver). The same printer may return different parameters for different OS's, different rev levels, and PCL vs Postscript.

Take a look at PINFO.IBS. I wrote it several years back to check a printers information.
