Dave,

I see by your email that you are concerned with performance when migrating from Novell to Windows based Comet File server.

My guess is that no one in the Comet Community has ANY experience with DataCenter version of Windows 2003 because they do not need it.

Much has been done to enhance performance of CometServe since it was introduced in 1999. That's 7 years ago!

If I were you, I would concentrate on the speed of the disk subsystem. Get a raid array of fast disks.

I am currently doing a survey of Microsoft server systems on a 64 bit system to determine which one(s) will run Comet and CometSreve best. So far, I cannot see ANY difference in speed between Windows 2003 (x86) and (x64) flavors. The (x86) version will run Comet as well as the CometServe. the (x64) version runs CometServe just fine, but will not run Comet itself.

My favorite windows server platform is "Longhorn". It is slick and fast. Faster than windows 2003 Server. But it is not released yet ;-(
