On each of these systems, I installed CometServerProducts610.exe. The Comet file server ran perfectly on all systems. The Security server ran fine on the 32 bit systems, but could not find the USB plug on 64 bit systems. I tried to install the 64 bit drivers from the Marx web site with mixed results. Email to marx resulted in a response that they were working on the driver in question, and they sent me a test package to try. No matter; I set up a security server on a different machine on the network and proceded testing.

Just as we expected, Comet itself did not run on the 64 bit versions of these platforms, but did run just fine on all 32 bit versions.

I set up my development machine as a COmet Workstation with the latest release, accessing all directories on the server. On all systems, I ran the identical test4 test. This was to an empty COS directory on the server. 1000 records, and 10 iterations. Here is the comparison:

PlatformTime (seconds)
Windows Vista (x86)11.10
Windows Vista RC2 (x64)13.12
Windows XP (x64)6.00
Windows Longhorn (pre-release)8.9
Windows 2003 Server R2 (x86)6.11
Windows 2003 Server R2 (x64)6.16

Here are the results for the identical test4 test I performed on those platforms that allowed a Comet Installation. I ran Comet locally to the same directory as in the network cases:

PlatformTime (seconds)
Windows Vista (x86)1.81
Windows Longhorn (pre-release)1.84
Windows 2003 Server R2 (x86)1.95
