RWW to a workstation is a Remote Desktop Connection. It is much like PC Anywhere's remote control. RWW to the server is a Terminal Services type connection that runs in a separate session. Unfortunatly, whatever Comet is doing in the primary session is invisible to the RWW session. Whereas, PC Aywhere's remote control connection takes over the primary session on the server. Everything the primary session sees, especially CSP and CW, are visible and controllable.

The only control over CSP in a RWW session is via Services. I have to control CW manually at the server console (primary session). I have never been able to get CW to work on a server from a RWW or TS session.

On my server, I run CW as an EXE and haven't tried running it as a service. For my customers, I don't put CW on their server. I try to get them to dedicate a "Remote Comet Services" PC where CW can host XAP, CAW, and Comet Faxing. I can RWW to the server to do CSP updates and restarts and RWW to the workstation to do whatever there.

More about RWW

1) RWW comes with SBS2003 (free). Cometeers like that :) For remote access to the server its superior to PC Anywhere. Except to control CSP and/or CW. It would be nice if CSP and CW were multisession aware. I think it can be added to Server 2003 and is also a free download.

2) RWW is superior to PCAnywhere when remote controlling workstations with one exception. PCAnywhere has faster file transfer rates.

3) RWW is multi-to-multi. Multiple Internet users can access multiple PC's on the SBS network. PCAnywhere requires a major install for the remote user, fixed IP's and fixed ports at the firewall for port redirection, and separate password set up. Messy.

4) RWW uses IE at the remote PC. The user has to allow an ActiveX control to be installed into IE and accept the servers certificate. The remote can be 9x or above. The user logs into the server and supplys their regular user credentials. The user is then presented with a list of PC's they are allowed to RWW into. The user selects the PC and logs in. Again suppling the proper credentials. All the IPs and ports are handled by RWW.
