emachines is just another vendor, nothing special about the machines. more budget oriented, but otherwise nothing remarkable about the hardware.
i'd try this: right click 'my computer', properties, advanced, startup & recovery, uncheck 'automatically reboot' (if it's checked). that should at least give you a better idea what's going on.
my only other thought is "try to install in safe mode", but i'm not sure if that'd work at all.
