once you get that working, it's relatively easy to get the mail into 'sent items' in the user's mailbox -- setup blat to set a specific x-header, bcc the sent mail to the user sending it, and setup an exchange rule to look for messages with that x-header, mark as read & move to 'sent items'.
a little convoluted, but it works for me.
