Comet Versioning

I am having a bit of a problem with keeping track of Comet Versioning, specifically knowing what version of programs are in a comet release directory.

Being a newcomer to Comet, this seems to be popping out at me, perhaps more so than the Comet "Original" folks.

XTL702 was released on March 14 and has qmonitor source code with a version of 7.03 (hard coded into it).

But UTL703 was not released till March 20

And REL 7.04 released on March 20 also, however its QMONITOR object program says it is version 7.04

Then when I unzip the files, the unziped files all have the date of when they were unziped.

It seems like it would be really helpful if there was a TEXT file in each of these directories, REL UTL XTL WDL, DLG DMW and a file should be installed with Comet Workstation and Comet Services that indicated the VERSION of the programs in the directory.

Even their COMET.EXE COSW.EXE and COSC.EXE do not appear to be tagged with any useful versioning info.

The bottom line is:
It seems like it would be helpful to be able to "look" at an REL or UTL, etc directory from the windows side and know what version it is.

I suppose I could start doing this myself manually.

Anyway, thats my thought...
