Joe:

I've had one customer where I've implemented FaxManJr. It was part of their upgrade from 504/Type2 to Comet2000 on a Win2000 server. They had the old CAS fax on the 504 host which sent 100+ faxes per day. Ran for months between reboots and never locked up. For FaxManJr, I had to modify all the faxing programs to write a record into the #FAX file and create a sequential file containing the text of the fax. I wrote a "FAXMON" program that ran continuously and checked the #FAX control file for new records. It ran on a dedicated workstation in the server room. Every few days or few 100 faxes the modem would lock up with the phone line open. Nothing but a reboot of the workstation would clear the lockup. Sometimes it took a double reboot. My guess was that it was a FaxManJr/modem problem. The volume of faxes went down after I cloned "FAXMON" as "MAILMON" and started sending more eamil. But the lockups never went away.
