Dave - there is a lot of dos overhead creating text files directly. I do a lot of this and have found that Comet handles text files just fine. If you need to create a file with a long file name in a non-comet folder, you may want to try creating the file in comet with some temporary name, (like TEMP), and then, when done, use the copyfile instruction to copy this temporary file to the non-comet directory file name. FYI - the copyfile allows long file names.
