The problem isn't that you're using a long filename (as opposed to a short 8.3 filename). The problem is that the resulting filename is just too long for Comet (max path=64 bytes) to store internally. Comet directory alias' are intended for more general use and cannot be limited at the dialog simply to support Comet's use of CATEMP. A better solution would be to have Comet convert all local (no UNC) directory alias' (or at least CATEMP) to their "short" equivalent. This will work so long as the directory is local and the short filename is not too long. We'll discuss this further and let you know what we can do.
