Hi Gary, we haven't had any issues with old 'Qantel' printers. Our last conversion was almost three years ago and they have three different printers. The printers were both serial/parallel, so we just used parallel after the conversion. All worked fine (and print much faster).

Our biggest problem was getting the programs and data from the old Qantel (keeping it stable enough to download the 200 megabytes at 9600 baud over a serial line). We found an old 386 (or 286) pc that kept in time with the old girl.

You'll find some documentation on the Signature site that explains the whole process (I think it's still online). We followed it and worked well for us. You should be able to run the compiled code on the pc, but if you decide to make source changes, you'll need to adjust the code a bit. It's explained in the documentation.

FYI... The 'run time' is awesome! what took an hour now takes a minute or less.
