Brian sent me an Email to inform me that he had just posted a response to my recent query & I thought that was a good idea, instead of checking the forum every half hour in anticipation. It is actually easier for me as usually I know I will not get a response that day as you guys are in bed and the response is waiting for me when I get up. However it is probably not practical for you all to move to Australia so I think an automated Email is a good idea. The source of the email would be constant and as such can be added to a friends list so that it is segregated from the automatic blacklisted spam. I can see that you ( Jim ) would not want an Email everytime there was a posting but it would not burden my inbox overly.
It would be especially good when someone goes back and reads old items and responds as I for one rarely check back more than a few days, who knows what responses may be out there to queries we have raised in the past, found a workaround for and never really resolved.
On the question of Spam, I use Mailwasher to vet my mail and I find it quite efficient, the majority of spam is automatically blacklisted after a few weeks of useage.
