Thanks Sensei - i tried #2 by moving the file into a comet folder, and adding to the qdir using qtility #13 and called it a text file. I then did a file dump and it gave me 7 records of 1024. I do have a question for you. Does the comet instruction 'file status' return the actual length of the file in any of the bytes prior to byte 31? (although I did a test and the file name appears to be in position 29). Would the length be in the same format as the gosub 8260 in the qtil908? This is expecting the length in bytes 27,28,29,30 (after doing some calculations)? If not, I will look at the dos functions.
