I tried all that Microsoft stuff & it just got worse. I conceded defeat, set up a new PC & reloaded W2k3 SP1. Going fine so far, the problem is of course that now I am not game to take any updates for fear of getting the dud. Someone asked what was different about everybody's setups, but there are so many different versions of W2K3 who knows if that had something toi do with it. I had been running Standard without a Domain ( sorry Steve) , now I am running SBS with a domain.
If you want to play with the error, I could send you the disk from the server; in a few days when I find out what I have forgotten to copy.
