Do an immediate Google search on NTDVM.EXE. Lots of hits with references to interference with SETUP.EXE, a possible Trojan/Backdoor, and AVAST AV software.
I scanned a SBS R2 system and found NTDVM.EXE ver 5.23790.3959 from 02/17/07. And, NTVDMD.DLL ver 5.2.3790.0 from 05/26/06 in System32. I can send them to you if you like.
