I have been thinking about a major upgrade to XAP for a while now. As Web applications get more sophisticated using such concepts as Ajax, A new XAP is needed. I don't want to change the current applications, but add capabilities and performance.

The current XAP cannot deal with a large request from the browser. Its current limitation is 32k. This is fine for 99% of the time, but there are cases where this is a real limitation. Think about a large xml request or transmitting a file as part of a form.

Instead of completely rewriting xap, I am contemplating a bridge between the Apache web server software and comet. Apache runs on windows machines, and provides many interesting capabilities of its own. Since Apache is open source, I think we can accomplish the job.

What do you all think? I value your thoughts and open this up for discussion.
