I, the vocal crank, have actually used the new INPUT statement. What I like about it is that I get two positions on the screen as the TM/TPs are not used. I guess the RJ is also not needed but I don't quite remember.
I would use it more often if I didn't have to code the position. Positions change and the new, wonderful version of Comet no longer tells me the cursor position. I distinctly remember an old version of Comet that did report X and Y.
And I have only ten fingers so counting positions up to 80 columns, sometimes even more, is not something I like to do.
With the ugly old Qantel-like INPUT I can carelessly slam the cursor at a background titlw field and get the associated stuff entered at the end of the title.
INPUTNEW would have been a better implementation.
