NUM Function.

Found this in the documentation...
The intermediate result of the NUM function is stored in an accumulator with a fixed precision of 16.8. Digits that are more than eight places on either side of the decimal point are truncated.

So If I want to convert "123456789012.3456" to a number all I get is 56789012.3456

Is there a way to work around this?
