When I set up an IP printer that's not attached to a printer, I set the printer up on the server and share it. All the worksations can then be set up to use the share name and all goes well. Usually :) This also gives me a common place to control the printer.

Sounds like your getting the Default Comet setting for System Font 0 of 10 cpi. So, if you want green bar printing on laser paper, the printer must be a Windows printer and not RAW. Then at the workstation, I set the Default System fonts to 0=17 cpi & 6 lpi, 1=17 cpi & 6 lpi, and 2=10 cpi & 6 lpi. If you have no Comet windows commands in your programs, then Comet will default to System Font 0. Use a fixed pitch font like Lucida Console or Courier. I've always ignored Comet's descriptions for the System Fonts. You'll have to do this at every workstation of cut and paste the info into the worksations COSW.INI.

If your programs have PCL code in them, then RAW should continue to work.

The "*" in the configuration tells Comet to send the print to the default printer. This is useful for CometAnywhere. I also use it when users have their own office printer and want print jobs to print in their office. Works well for management types and people in remote corners of the building.

Never used the MS Document Image Writer.

I was thinking Bob Prime. Should have checked Outlook first :)
