Been using DB Manager and I have a few issues with the program, I do not know if any of those were addressed in the new release (I didn't receive my 2008 subscription licenses yet)
Here are some annoyance and/or bugs.
- Fields: Format Length is missing. This may not be used by the Reporter but if this utility is to Import from FORMAT and Generate Include File then it should "remmeber" these things.
- Fields: When changing position of a field, the name on the list is blanked and then program crashes with a Key Not Found on the blank name.
- Import from FORMAT: There is no log file nor Warnings/Error Messages. If the same variable is used more than once in the FORMAT, it retains only the last instance - There should be a Warning or a Error log.
- Import from FORMAT: When importing a FORMAT, the Fields name are generated using the IB variable name. If a STRING and a NUMERIC variable have similar names (with/without the '$'), then only the last one is kept. Again, no WARNING nor ERROR LOGs.
- Import from FORMAT: Populating the list of available sources takes forever and displays no activity. F9 does not work.
- Generate Include File: When generating the FORMAT, does not put the positions for fields with "gaps". At this point I'll guess that it probably ignores the Field.FormatLen in the #CFILES.
Can I point out that with the compounding of the "duplicate" and missing positions would create a mess in the newly generated include file. I tried importing the CFILES.inc "FileRec" format and then regenrating it... Results were not quite compatible.
This was tested using Qtilities 7.04
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
