/KEYFILE scripts

Here are my questions:

I use DOS scripts to process a lot of data for our company. From these scripts I load a Comet session and, via /KEYFILE, run various programs. I have only one (or two) problems with this process. A Comet session must already be running or it will not execute the script commands. If I load Comet, and it is the first session to be running, the /KEYFILE script will not run. Comet will go ahead a load up just fine. So... is there any way to make this work in the first session or a way to check, in a DOS script, that a session of Comet is already running?

Question two, can the /KEYFILE process include a PAUSE or something to allow one program to run and finish then start another program with a new set of commands?
