Interesting. Article does state the it applies win Win2K Server SP2 and before. Hope everybody's on SP4.

Also interesting is a problem I've encountered twice that looks a bit like the last block of data from a TXT file didn't get written to disk.

I have a variation of the SENDMAIL program that checks a control file (#EMAIL). When a new email is ready, it opens the requisite text file and passes the info on to SENDMAIL. The sending program writes the control record after the TXT file is closed. Every email ends with a boilerplate VCF attachment. Twice, SENDMAIL has stopped because it encountered a premature EOF. The screen echo from SENDMAIL shows it stopping about 10 records from the end of the VCF attachment. The first file, when viewed later, did have missing records. The second file, when viewed later, was complete and was transmitted by SENDMAIL when it was restarted.

Two unusual stoppages out of 15,000+ emails is pretty good. But, it does looks suspiciously like the last block of data was delayed or never made it to the TXT file.
