POS function

I ran into a problem with the POS function today - something that I use all the time and have never come across this before. A simple condition like - IF POS(LTYPE$,'FA*VL') EQ 0 GOTO 100 - did not work and I had to break it down into two IF statements. The client is running Comet2006 build 275.
