From your numerous posts on this topic, I think we all know where your feelings lay.
And not wishing to get into a drawn out discussion on the topic..
However you do realize that this is not, by any means, the first time in the past twenty years that the industry has gone through this process.

Every time a new OS is released,
People moan and gripe about how it sucks and the resources (CPU / Memory / Hard disk) it requires.
When the old OS is "retired" people moan and gripe more.
It really is getting quite old to me.
Eventually everyone moves on.

The downgrade option is nothing new either.

Though I know little about Apple, I suspect they do something similiar.
It does not appear that new MAC can be purchased with OS 9, instead of the 'current' OS X.

VMware is a real nice virtualization package what allows XP(or other OS's) to run in a Virtual Machine on Vista (or XP) Systems.
