That's easy!! Reports and Inquiry programs just use INQUIRE. You must program your software with multiple users is mind. If there is ANY possibility that data could change during ANY transaction, that's where READ is better that INQUIRE. If it's direct (one-on-one), EXTRACT and WRITE. You know that... Think Order Entry.. Enter a Customer # with INQUIRE. If someone was changing the customer's address info while you were doing the INQUIRE to build a Ship-to/Bill-to address in the Order Header File, you've got a mess-up..
