Attached is screen shot from 5-6 year old Cisco/Linksys WRT54GS router. There's DHCP on the router. The router sits between the DSL line and the Server's firewall (MS ISA 2000). It has its own sub net and has no corporate network workstations to which to assign IP's. The only reason this customer has this kind of router is to allow unfettered wireless Internet access for visitors (accountants, vendors, etc). All traffic for the server is passed thru (ports 80, 25 and the like).

Notice that the Lease Time is in minutes (0-9999). 9999 is about 2.8 days. And there doesn't appear to be a provision for lease renewal.

Maybe there are routers that do lease renewal. Maybe there are ones that have a never expire option. Maybe moving DHCP to one of the workstations (previously mentioned software DHCP) would be a solution.
