I would imagine everyone agrees with the following fact:

"If comet is running and the workstation gets a new IP Address, comet will have issues on the workstation and the server will be seriously confused".

I am not worred about the workstation being confused. It is not that big of deal for the operator to reboot the workstation (because our operators aren't cool enough to know about task manager). We look bad when we have to get 25 users out of comet to restart cometservices to free up the license. How about an MTB program a user can run from any workstation to tell the comet security server to audit the licenses (currently attached users)? It really sucks when the user had an extracted record at the time they froze....that extract never gets released.

The customer in question has a DHCP server with several VPN connections so the server based DHCP server has tons of custom parameters. Hindsight being 20/20 maybe using MAC address' for licensing would've been better than TCPIP. That may have helped keep Novell/Comet relevant.
