Yes, syncing was the argument brought up before.

I had arguments back then why relying on syncing is not enough.

The main one being that, unless the PC is locked down, the user can change the PC Time.

Syncing only happens a specific intervals.
Once source I found said the Default in Vista is every Seven(7) days.

They say setting syncing to less that four(4) hours has a tendency to get the people hosting the time server a bit ticked off for excessive usage.
