No sarcasm intended! I really think Comet(32?) should be updated so that include files are not necessary.
Short of that I really think that the process of updating everything:
Is too tedious and too prone to mistakes.
How about a new syntax in Comet32 that just designates the file by its virtual name? That would take care of declaring all field variables and dynamically generate a format descriptor for the file.
set cust = 22 !sets the LUN
.
.!close lun 22, open the customer file on lun 22, dynamically declares variables and generates a pseudo format called cust
file cust is customer dir='cos'.
.
extract(cust) key=xxx$, excp=nnn extracts the "customer" record into the format "cust"
.
.
if cust.fname$ = 'John" ....
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
