Yes performance must be considered. What I was thinking was allowing you to specify a CONTAINS field number (one of the up to 5 fields used in the listcontol) and a CONTAINS value to be checked. You could still specify a starting and ending primary key value to limit the search if you wanted. Obviously if you didn't, it would have to read thru the entire file. Remember after every 500 records added to the listcontrol, CmtHelpD will ask you if you want to continue searching. So, the user could stop it if they saw the record they were looking for before the range had been exhausted.

What do you think? I should go back and more carefully count how many bytes are left in the buffer used to pass info into CmtHelpD but I think there would be about 20 bytes available for the CONTAINS field.
