Thanks John, but that isn't what I was looking for. I use what you have mentioned above for quite some time now. To keep my current project going, I've had to setup a job to process incoming information and have windows scheduler fire off a comet task every five minutes. My other option is to just leave a comet window open and have it check once a minute for work to do.

The service based application that actually does the remote information pull for me has the ability to run another application when it's got data. This is where I wanted to insert a comet application. I may end up writing it in VB6 to hook into comet data files (I haven't done vb work in a really long time years).

What I'm looking for is something that does not send anything to the screen - not even the comet splash screen or even the log on text stuff. In fact, I don't even need the screen output to be started. My program starts up, looks for data files, does some data processing stuff and writes the data out to comet files. I get an email if there is a problem with the processing.
