The need for directory alias' was realized during the development of CometAnywhere. Some of the Windows type functions (bitmaps, dialogs, etc.) and the later added CopyFile functions needed a way to make references to a remote foler without knowing the actual folder name. Later it was extended to include folder on any Comet system. I'm happy you've found another use for it.
